Walking Cane Shipping and International Delivery: What to Expect When Ordering from DaiWalk

Walking Cane Shipping and International Delivery: What to Expect When Ordering from DaiWalk

Walking canes are dimensional items -- longer than most parcels and requiring specific packaging to prevent shaft or tip damage during transit. International shipping of a walking cane involves considerations that standard parcel shipping does not. This article covers what to expect when ordering from DaiWalk, including packaging, transit times, customs, and what to do if a delivery issue occurs.

Packaging

The DaiWalk Original 1.0 is shipped in a purpose-built tube package designed for the shaft length and handle dimensions. The package is rigid enough to prevent bending under normal parcel handling forces, with internal cushioning for the handle geometry. The Steady Tip and lanyard (if included) are packaged separately within the outer package.

The packaging is sized to pass through standard parcel dimensions across all major shipping networks. Some courier services apply length surcharges to items over 100cm -- DaiWalk packages are sized to avoid this where possible at standard cane lengths.

Shipping Destinations

DaiWalk ships to EU member states, the United Kingdom, and selected international markets. Shipping availability and rates are displayed at checkout for your specific delivery address. EU destinations within DaiWalk shipping zones receive standard tracked delivery. UK and other international destinations may have different lead times.

Transit Times

Indicative transit times (not guaranteed):

  • EU member states (standard zone): 3-7 business days
  • United Kingdom: 5-10 business days
  • Other international: 7-21 business days depending on destination and customs clearance

DaiWalk provides shipment tracking for all orders. The tracking number is sent by email when the shipment is despatched from the warehouse.

Customs and Duties

Within the EU, no customs duties apply to shipments between member states (single market). For shipments to the UK (post-Brexit): import duty may apply depending on the declared value and applicable tariff codes. DaiWalk correctly classifies shipments -- a walking cane is typically classified as a mobility aid (HTS code 8714.20 or national equivalent), which attracts low or zero import duty in most jurisdictions.

For non-EU and non-UK destinations: local import duties and taxes may apply. These are the responsibility of the recipient and are not included in the DaiWalk product price or shipping charge. Check your local customs authority for applicable duty rates on mobility aids before ordering.

Receiving the Package

The package requires a signature on delivery at most destinations. If you will not be home, most courier services allow a delivery instruction (leave with neighbour, in a safe place, at a parcel collection point). DaiWalk recommends providing delivery instructions at checkout to avoid missed delivery attempts.

What to Do If the Package Is Damaged

If the outer packaging shows significant damage on delivery (crush damage, tear-through), note this with the driver and photograph the packaging before opening. Open the package and inspect the cane for any damage. Shaft damage (cracks, deformation) and handle damage are the primary concerns. If damage has occurred in transit:

  1. Photograph the damaged item and packaging
  2. Contact DaiWalk customer support within 48 hours of delivery with photographs
  3. DaiWalk will arrange replacement or refund per the return policy

Returns and Exchanges

DaiWalk accepts returns within 30 days of delivery for items in unused condition. For items that have been used briefly (trying the cane at home, setting the height) but are being returned due to fit or preference issues: contact DaiWalk customer support to discuss options. The 3D configurator is designed to reduce post-purchase uncertainty about appearance -- if the cane differs materially from the configured preview, DaiWalk will arrange an exchange.
